A remote gold mine in Peru rented Mobile Water units to treat contaminated leachate water, protect existing reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, and meet environmental guidelines.

In 2015, a gold mining plant in Peru with an altitude of 3,000 meters needed to protect its existing RO unit from contaminated leachate water. The plant required a quick, reliable, and high-quality water treatment system to meet peak demands in the summer months and prevent the existing RO membrane from collapsing or releasing contaminated water into the environment. It was also needed to leave a small footprint and operate in challenging geographies.
The Aria FAST mobile membrane system was chosen to treat the mine leachate, guarantee the availability of a quality water source, and increase overall capacity. Furthermore, its modular, self-contained form removed the need for any new buildings or infrastructure.
Thanks to its deployment speed and ability to meet filtration regulations, the Aria FAST unit increased flow capacity and permeability in the plant, keeping the plant online. The membrane system was a perfect solution to address the challenges of Peru’s strict regulations and the gold mine’s focus on social impact.
