About Environmental Contaminants

Environmental contaminants are harmful chemicals present in soil, air and water. Research has shown that a wide variety of such chemicals exist at trace concentrations in streams, lakes, rivers and groundwater throughout the world. UV advanced oxidation (also known as UV AOP) is an established technology for the remediation of contaminants in groundwater and surface water.

TrojanUV advanced oxidation systems have been installed around the world to treat a variety of contaminants, including:

Fuel and Fuel Additives

The accidental release of fuels and propellants has led to the widespread contamination of groundwater by chemicals such as methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), benzene, toluene, ethylene, xylene (BTEX) and hydrazine. Contamination of water supplies is wide ranging due to the large number of leaking underground storage tanks and pipes, gasoline spills, and gasoline-consuming recreational vehicle usage in reservoirs.
